The UTRGV School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences | UTRGV at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) invites applications for two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions beginning 09/01/2024, subject to funding availability. Full consideration will be given to applicants with research interests in any area of mathematics and statistics. This appointment involves teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels and requires mentoring and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students. A commitment to excellence in both research and teaching is essential, as well as providing service to the community and profession. In addition to contributing to the BS in Mathematics, BS in Statistics, MS in Applied Statistics and Data Science, MS in Mathematics, and PhD in Mathematics and Statistics with Interdisciplinary Applications, the newly hired Assistant Professor is expected to be involved in community efforts that engage the community.
Preference will be given to candidates with an active research agenda in applied mathematics, computational mathematics, and statistics and its applications, including mathematical statistics, applied statistics and data science, computational statistics, environmental statistics, biostatistics, statistical machine learning, deep learning, and causal inference.
