The Data Science Program Teaching Assistant Professor provides instruction and assists with the development of course materials for the undergraduate Data Science Program and undergraduate Data Science Program course sequence, supports academic advising to undergraduate data science students, supports summer orientation for first-year data science students, supports other academic functions of the First-Year Data Science Program, and serves on college and university committees as appropriate.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Data Science or Data Analytics or closely related fields (e. g., computer science, statistics, operations research, industrial engineering) from an accredited institution of higher education, conferred by the start of employment
- Demonstrated effective experience as a teacher for undergraduate data science, data analytics, or closely related fields courses at the first-year and second-year level
- Experience with programming in Python, R, and SQL
- Display a commitment to undergraduate data science students in developing their academic skills, especially first-year students
- Demonstrate an ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching undergraduate STEM students
- Ability and interest in developing graduate level course work in data science
