The following is the job description.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of related experience in Statistics or Biostatistics.
  • Experience in analyzing health outcomes from health insurance claims data.

Job Summary:
Provides statistical support services to faculty, staff, and students at UTMB.

Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with investigators to identify problems and provide statistical consultation including design of experiments or surveys, analysis of data, interpretation of results and preparation of reports.
  • Assist with client data organization and management.
  • Perform statistical computations.
  • Provide graphical and tabular representations.
  • Prepares statistical reports which are generally consistent with accepted standards of statistical practice.
  • Develop, maintain, and modify programs for in-house use.
  • Perform non-statistical components of consulting such as providing analogous examples and explanations using non-technical terminology, and helping researchers formulate and clarify research issues.
  • Visits client’s work field whenever possible to establish rapport and to become familiar with and interested in the client’s research and data
  • Analyze/evaluate data and make appropriate decisions/recommendations.
  • Communicate technical information to non-statisticians.
  • Adheres to internal controls established for department.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Personal computer.
  • Proficiency in computing, including knowledge of statistical packages such as SAS, SPSS, R, or SQL.
  • Familiar with database management.
  • Problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a high degree of professionalism and competence in dealing with a variety of individuals.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Knowledge of statistical and scientific research design.
  • Knowledge of data file handling techniques.

Salary Range:
$70,000.00 to $75,000.00, actual salary commensurate with experience.
