Postdoc fellow – Simon Fraser University

Dr. Donald Estep is seeking to recruit a postdoc to work on inverse problems for detection of critical minerals under the ground. They will pursue research in both classic Bayesian calibration as well as our Bayesian approach to stochastic inverse problems. The work has very interesting theoretical aspects in statistical methodology and foundations, so it is ideally suited for people that are strong in mathematical statistics and probability. But they have a close collaboration with a local high tech mining company that is trying to make extraction greener by precision targeting of deposit locations and geometry. So, the postdoc will get to work with real data and applications along side PhD students and other postdocs.

The position is for two years, has a good salary and generous support. SFU is located in a beautiful and exciting city of course. They will be a part of his group, but all of his trainees receive my personal attention. The position is well suited for anyone thinking of immigrating to Canada.
