The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at Simon Fraser University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track appointment in Statistics at the Assistant Professor rank to commence September 1, 2018 (flexible). We specifically seek candidates with an active interest in, and demonstrated potential for, leadership in Big Data and/or Data Science.
Candidates must have a PhD in Statistics or a closely related field such as Machine Learning, outstanding research record or potential, and evidence of excellence in teaching. The Department especially seeks candidates with research interests that will support involvement in SFU’s Big Data Initiative— described at http://www.sfu.ca/key/ — and more broadly can help to increase our internal engagement with Big Data and/or Data Science.
