The Department of Biostatistics in the Gillings School of Global Public Health and the Department of Genetics in the School of Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill are seeking a tenure-track faculty member in statistical genetics/genomics, starting in Fall 2024. This 12-month full-time position is open at the Assistant Professor rank with a primary appointment in the Department of Biostatistics and a secondary appointment in the Department of Genetics. Candidates should have a strong interest in both methodological and collaborative research. The faculty member will mentor biostatistics graduate students and direct PhD-level research. This position requires teaching one course per academic year in advanced statistical and data science methods. Service in the Department of Biostatistics and to the Gillings School, the University, and the profession of biostatistics at large is expected.
Applicants should have broad research and teaching interests, the potential to direct PhD-level research, and the ability to engage in collaborative research with other faculty members at the University. The successful candidate will join a vibrant group of statistical geneticists in Biostatistics, Genetics, and elsewhere at UNC. The applicant should have excellent communication skills.
