The Mathematics Department, housed within Loyola Marymount University’s College of Science and Engineering, is an inclusive community of 20 full-time faculty members and approximately 70 mathematics majors, 40 minors, and 10 Master of Arts in Teaching students. The department offers several Bachelor’s degree options and minors, including both a Bachelor of Science in Statistics and Data Science and a minor in Statistics and Data Science.
Faculty in the department work in many areas of pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and data science, in an atmosphere of mutual respect and collaboration. The normal teaching load is 9 units per semester, with a reduced teaching load in the first two years.
