Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor – University of Houston

The Department of Mathematics in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the Department of Health Systems & Population Health Sciences in the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine at the University of Houston invite applications from candidates working in Statistics and Data Science for an Assistant or Associate Professor position with tenure to begin in August 2024. This position is within the Presidential Frontier Faculty program. The Presidential Frontier Faculty program is a university-wide integrated interdisciplinary hiring campaign that is overseen by central university leadership and encompasses hiring a large cohort of faculty to work on health, energy, sustainability, and security.

We are especially interested in someone with expertise in Statistics and Data Science with applications to bio-medical sciences who would develop strategic connections between the research teams in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the College of Medicine. This is a joint position with 75% at the Department of Mathematics in the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics and 25% at the Department of Health Systems & Population Health Sciences in the College of Medicine. The successful candidate will develop and teach courses within the curriculum of both departments, supervise student scholarly projects, and collaborate with researchers within both departments and across the university. Candidates whose research has applications to accessible health care and disease control, drug discovery and development, healthcare innovation, and sustainable communities & infrastructure are particularly encouraged to apply.
