My name is Erin Black, and I am the Associate Director for Policy, Partnerships, and Recruitment with the Division of Scientific Education and Professional Development at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). I am reaching out today with a great opportunity for your members regarding the Public Health Informatics Fellowship Program (PHIFP). The pandemic has demonstrated the need to expand the health workforce, and its provision of public health informatics, applied epidemiology, laboratory science, public health, and global health. We at CDC, have identified North Carolina State University as a critical partner who can help us reach future public health professionals by sharing this great opportunity with your members.
PHIFP has developed public health leaders skilled in information science, computer science, and information technology to address current and future informatic needs. While working in CDC programs to enhance our agency’s informatics workforce, fellows help state and local health departments and international public health agencies solve complex public health informatics challenges.
Our CDC Public Health Informatics Fellowship Program has opened applications for the upcoming class of 2023. The application period closes on November 1st. We would greatly appreciate it if you could share this opportunity with your members. Below is our website where your affiliates can learn more and apply. We look forward to the talent your organization will bring to CDC Public Health Informatics Fellowship Program. We encourage developing this partnership and would like to hear your feedback on how we can better support you and your affiliates. If you have any questions or would like to schedule some time to discuss, please reach out to FellowOpportunities@cdc.gov. As you share this opportunity with your affiliates, we would love to hear more about your outreach (e.g., number of members, outreach methods and metrics, etc.).
